Pledge Request: Fax Your TD
John Handelaar is looking for some people to support his efforts to develop an Irish equivalent of the hugely successful UK site WriteToThem.com for contacting UK politicians. The Irish version of the site would allow people to contact their councillors, TDs and MEPs for free. If you are interested in helping out, visit www.pledgebank.com/faxyourtd BEFORE 1ST FEBRUARY.

From now on out I'm putting current book into the current music setting. I've also done some tinkering with my Blogger Books a/c and have put amazon links to my TBR. Thank you so much to mollydot for putting up with my ARGH HTML eeek queries. I'm also going to start putting thoughts while I read books and if I start a book and abandon it for something else it's going to get a mention and reasoning behind the abandoning. Yeah I could do all that here but LJ doesn't quite like the Amazon associ...

So weight. So I'm now 1.5 lbs away from breaking the 14 stone barrier - from a measured high of 14st 7lb. In US terms I'm currently 197lbs from a high of 204lbs. In kilos that would mean that I've broken the 90kg barrier (just) to about 89.5kg from a high of 92kg.

You scored as Spiritualist. You are a Spiritualist. You are most at home in the subtle realms of existence, and since you can't be there all the time, you communicate with spirits regularly to keep at least one foot on higher planes. As you progress, more and more of your interaction is based on planes other than the physical, and while this can draw strange glances from those who overhear, for the most part you are able to blend in and go unnoticed. It's a shame, really, because you have depth...

I'm still thinking about the book the Elixir and the Stone by Baigent and Leigh which is an interesting read, well the second part is, the first part is riddled with the "Wicca as ancient religion" silliness/heresy/whatever. The second part looks at the use and abuse of words and music in the 20th Century (the book was published originally in 1997. Although I have a lot of issues with their historical accuracy I also sometimes wonder if they're not just using a large (lucrative) poking stick to...

OMG,RTE didn't pull their punches with the report of 38 or so people killed in Irish Roads over the month of January, they did a roll call of names with pictures of the cleanups. Please all of you take care on the roads, I don't want to ever see your names on a list like that.Edited to correct the figure, there's also a 5 month old who's seriously ill in hospital today.

Just watched Super size me scary stuff.Went to Yamamamori's on Sunday with grutok, caturah and their Father, it was good and he seemed to enjoy it! Nice antidote to the "Month's Mind" on Saturday, Lynn was absent because her son is apparently getting very bad headaches. There was a funny moment in the 24 hour Tesco in Finglas when we were going home when caturah and her friend were buying snacks and myself and himself were buying the domestic stuff. Kinda scary how domesticated we've become

Please, please stop putting wholegrain in all the cereals, I want to have options for my breakfast, I can't eat wholegrain in large amounts without pain so please, please leave me with some "unhealthy" options. I like the taste of wheatabix but I can't eat it. Could you all leave me with some slightly healthy options rather than the sugar coated ones.

I wish we could edit the channels on TV, eliminate the crap I'd never watch, there is no way I would watch stuff like Rapture TV or any other of the "god channels" and the likelyhood of my watching S4 Digiol is really low, it's as if you were on Livejournal and forced to watch several other flists at the same time, without the option of unfriending any of them.I feel a bit shit today, I think I'm into rebound on the pseudophedrine, which is also a risk when I have a cold and sinus infections, al...

Now I've worked in call centres, yes centres I've been that other person on the other end of the phone, I've survived telling people about PC's, Bailey's, Credit Cards, Charities, Changes in Banks, Health Insurance, Organised Engineers for Theatres, sold tickets for concerts, taken death notices (had heart failure when the name was my hubbies - then found out w...

First to Beaumont to get grutok irridiated for his bone scan.Told that we can leave for 3 hours for the radiation to work through his body.Go into town, bum around, go back to Beaumount. Read while waiting for grutok to be finished with the imaging, he got them to do a full body scan so as to find out if there are other parts of his body with problems like his fingers and knees.Come home, sit down for a while, decide to go to Springwools g...

Top 50 most-read books: bold those you've read, italicise those you might read, strike through those you (probably) won't, pass it on.The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown soooooo overrated. Would people stop feeding this monster. There are copies becoming available in the libraries, quit giving this guy money, it's not that good a book. Read Shadow of the Wind instead. The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas AdamsThe Great Gatsby - F.Scott Fitzgerald To K...

So... I went into the dentist today, having gone to the doctor yesterday, to discover that I didn't need a filling, I need a ROOT CANAL treatment. They did the initial treatment for it, the first phase, only two more to go, how pleasant, well the worst is over, except paying for it, E300 for the total treatment, well I did cost them a fair amount in numbing agents today, I think I had about 5 injections or more today, thankfully the dentist realised that I wasn't trully numbed up when he blaste...
