ElBlogador.com- The Voice of Irish ...Hopeful Year Ahead (22.12.2005, 17:02 UTC)
This has been an excellent year for genuine democrats, in particular, for the SDLP. They have been vindicated time after time, at the poll, on weapons, on North South and vindicated on OTRs. Next year El Blogador wants to see people given back the hope they had in 1998.  After 30 years of dirty war, we want more than a dirty peace.  We want real peace and a enhanced way to a better Ireland. At the polls back in May people wrote the SDLP off.  One member of the press ...

ElBlogador.com- The Voice of Irish ...OTR Leglislation Clanger Dropped (22.12.2005, 10:20 UTC)
The SDLP has been vindicated by Sinn Fein’s turnaround on the Offences Bill after six weeks of supporting it.   It is a pity they are still trying to pretend that they did not sign up to state killers getting away with it in the dirty deal they did with the British at Hillsborough in 2003.   Now Tony Blair has to bow to the inevitable and withdraw this Bill.  Instead there must be, put in place constructive proposals for truth, recognition and remembrance.

ElBlogador.com- The Voice of Irish ...Durkan Should Sue McGuinness (21.12.2005, 17:06 UTC)
Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Martin McGuinness has launched a disgusting and unfounded verbal attack on SDLP leader Mark Durkan, accusing him of "distortion, dishonesty and downright lies," after Mark revealed the rank ignorance of the wishes and needs of the people of Ireland which Sinn Féin has displayed over the OTR fiasco. Mark Durkan did not lie- he highlighted the truth about Sinn Féin/ British Collusion, and the provos don't like it. Instead of making a bogus and vicious att...

There was an IRA spy ring – like the IRA has been involved in other activity such as the Northern Bank, Castlereagh and Colombia. The British knew about it months before the Stormont raid. They allowed the case to collapse to protect an informer. IRA and British Government have both huge questions to answer. Proof that there was an IRA spy ring. If Denis Donaldson was not authorised to spy by the IRA, why didn’t the provisionals expel him three years ago when over a thousand docume...

ElBlogador.com- The Voice of Irish ...SwitchBack- Seven Reasons To Vote SDLP (20.12.2005, 21:39 UTC)
Events over recent weeks have proven that the SDLP is the only party that can be trusted to represent the needs of Irish nationalists. Many people lent their vote to Sinn Féin in good faith to encourage them to democratise. Sinn Féin has proven itself unworthy of these votes, and political stalemate has ensued. It is now time for democrats to switch their votes back to the SDLP to bring progress to northern politics. Here are seven reasons why you should switch back to the SDLP- a ...

VINDICATED  Sinn Fein have called the OTR issue wide of the mark from the start - and are still trying to cover up the fact that they sold out victims in the dirty deal they did at Hillsborough.  They were clear that this Bill would deny justice and seal off any prospect of truth.  They were also clear that they want this Bill withdrawn in its entirety.  Sinn Fein have got this issue wrong from the start - and are still trying to cover up their role.  The deal by S...

Sinn Féin have staged a flip-flop, and have decided that they no longer want legislation allowing OTRs to return and avoid trial. El Blogador contacts tell us that the heat placed on the provos by the SDLP over the fact that it would destroy any chance of victims getting justice, forced them to cut their losses. Nationalists were outraged at the fact that republicans, loyalists, and state killers would get a 'get out of jail card' after Sinn Féin/ British Collusion on the issue. More ...

Recent actions show that the people who gave us the dirty war are now ready to give a dirty peace.    I don’t believe Denis Donaldson was the key person being protected.  I think there is something more, something wider.       This corruption has taken place right at the heart of Sinn Fein.  The democratic public out there have been caught between the unbelievable’s.  They don’t know w...

I see that finally someone is talking sense in this whole Stormontgate Sinn Féin/ British collusion scandal. The SDLP's Vice-Chair Eddie Espie has said that Gerry Adams should resign as Sinn Féin leader in order to reassure nationalists. Hairy Adams & Co has ousted the tout Chuckycrat, Denis Donaldson from Sinn Fein. In an extraordinary display of political gullibility, Hairy Adams & Co, admitted the disorganized party, that proposes to let state killers and loyalist murderers off the hook in the proposed OTR legislation, was lead up the garden path by the old adversaries. What happened to the Bill of Rights we used to hear so much about? The best possible Bill of Rights for all of us in Northern Ireland.  The Bill of Rights which protects our most basic rights, like the right to life and freedom from torture, have been undermined in 30 years of violence, and now throughout the world they are coming under attack again. There is a debate on rights going on, but it is a bad debate, and I want to draw its poison.  People don’t want rights just to...

DUP members nearly choked on their Ulster Fries yesterday morning when they opened the Belfast Telegraph. In an interview with the paper, the party's Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson talked about a Presbyterian Minister, and said: "He married me." DUPers, who are implacably opposed to same-sex marriages, nearly had a fit when they read what Mr. Donaldson had said. The MP, who has swung both ways (i.e. he has been in the UUP and DUP) was speaking about the influence he now wields in Paisley'...

Under the review 26 existing local councils were to be replaced with 7 Ballymena style super councils. Sinn Féin’s Alex Maskey has launched an ill-advised attack on the SDLP's position on restorative justice. The south Belfast provo MLA claimed that CRJs have been operating for five years without any criticism from the SDLP. Sorry Maskey, but you are talking rubbish. Let me direct you to comments made by Alex Attwood last February after CRJ refused to attend a policing conference: "The refusal of certain Community Restorative Justice groups to attend today’s PSNI Conference p...

To every thing there is a season, a time for war and a time for peace, when its time comes.  To apply a trait in a badly chosen time or place is a mistaken undertaking. It is just so with the cessation of warlike activities and beginning of a peaceful democratic process. What for many would have seemed impossible a few years ago or even a few months ago now appears the only real alternative to going back to the bad old / sad old days and ways of the past. It now seems possible the four...

It has been revealed that a number of DUP councillors in Ballymena (quelle surprise) conspired to stop the SDLP's Declan O'Loan from attending a conference in Donegal. The DUPers' party leader on the council, plus six other members tried to block the SDLP man from going to the Colmcille Heritage Trust event. Cllr. O'Loan took the opinion that the DUP's intransigence was caused simply and solely because the event was taking place over the border. Thankfully, a number of DUPers even thought that ...

Why are we being told the decision not bring charges in relation to the Stormont case is not in the public interest with no public explanation as to why a decision not to present evidence in this case was taken. The public deserve to know why this was done. We still have not been told what constitutes and who decides what the public interest is. We bear in mind cases in the past recounting the, Shoot to Kill policy, when charges where withdrawn because the Attorney General believed that they we...

The whole Stormontgate debacle, which has been brewing for several years and has unravelled over the past week, could well be the final nail in the coffin of any belief people had in democratic government. We have had a blind eye turned to the Columbia Three, the introduction of sectarian supercouncils, OTR legislation to clear the slate for murderers in the north, and now a black-out of information on the case which brought down Stormont. Peter Hain admitted on the BBC today that there had ...

Sinn Féin has claimed that the SDLP has misrepresented, indeed 'fabricated' according to Martin McGuinness, Sinn Féin's position on OTRs. Here are the facts, which prove that the SDLP hyposthesis on Sinn Féin/ British collusion is correct: The Sinn Fein/British government side deal of April 2003 set the foundations for the current OTR Bill. It states that “a qualifying offence would be any scheduled offence … committed before 10th April 1998.” Scheduled o...
