Adams RantsIt’s 5am… (10.12.2005, 05:14 UTC)
And I’ve just finished watching one of the most emotional movies I have ever seen! Having got back from work at midnight, I decided to play a few hours of CS before watching Thirteen, one of the many DVD’s I bought today. It attracted very positive media exposure in various film festivals around the world back in 2003, and at only €6, you couldn’t go far wrong! The film tells the story of a 13 year old girl who just started middle school. Prior to starting school she ...

Adams RantsWhere have I been? (3.12.2005, 11:29 UTC)
Many of you have noticed that in the past few weeks I havent been blogging. The reason being that I’ve become fairly addicted to MySpace.com. Initially I just set up shop over there to see what the fuss was all about, but now I find myself regularly visiting the site and taking part in the community. It’s good fun and I sort of have a blog over there that shows mainly the results of quizzes I’ve taken. I hope to reserve this blog for the more serious subjects and posts but the...

Adams RantsThe Crash Landing That Never Was? (17.11.2005, 18:27 UTC)
About 30 minutes a go I was absolutely gripped by Sky News who had a breaking news story about an eleven seater airplane that was having difficulties with it’s landing gear over Atlanta. The pilot reported that the nose gear and left wing gear had successfully engaged, however the right wing gear had failed to engage at all. Before I tuned in, the pilot attempted a landing with only 2 gears engaged, however he aborted at the last minute. I watched in awe for the next 15 minutes as he c...

Adams RantsReview: Driven (15.11.2005, 15:58 UTC)
Recently I rekindled my love of motor-sport and nowadays instead of playing CS, I can be seen watching NASCAR and Indy Car races which I think is an improvement! Anyway I bought this film in the bargain bin in GameStop for a meagre €7. It’s based around the Champcar series formerly known as CART. It follows the season of Jimmy Bla who despite his name, has no connection whatsoever to Waterford. Jimmy is a rookie who is challenging for the championship but as of late has been ...

Adams RantsDreams (14.11.2005, 22:39 UTC)
Up until recently I never really paid much attention to my dreams. They were always just there. I experienced them while I slept and that was that. But recently I’ve been delving into the world of my weird and fucked up dreams in an attempt to do what many before have tried to do… interpret them! I’ve been experimenting with a few ideas about dreams and their relevancy to our waking life. In previous posts I have suggested that as I type this, I could be dreaming and the on...

Adams RantsBig Payday (13.11.2005, 21:33 UTC)
Friday saw me receive my largest wage packet thusfar! €386 for working a 50 something hour week. That’s excluding tips which I worked out last night add’s up to me now earning and extra 50% to my wages in tips which works out as me earning €8 something an hour which doesn’t suggest that I’m being subjected to slave labour as much as earning €5.50 an hour does. So straight away I withdrew €450 and went to River Island to buy a wallet. The wallet...

Adams RantsJurys Hotel aka Ard Ri closes! (9.11.2005, 00:39 UTC)
In a piece of news that comes as a shock to myself and I suppose everyone else, the Ard Rì hotel, formerly known as Jury’s Hotel has closed it’s doors. Initially rumours were spreading through the grapevine at a ferocious pace. Some of these rumours speculated that the hotel was to close it’s doors for good however it can now be revealed that the site is actually to undergo a massive redevelopment project. The planning application for a 160 bedroom 4 star hotel and leisur...

Adams RantsThriving Under Pressure (7.11.2005, 13:07 UTC)
Last night was one of the most hectic nights that I have ever worked in the Tower. It was a dinner for 250 people and we only had 4 regular staff on! The rest were either totally new staff or staff drafted in from the restaurant which fortunately was having a quiet night otherwise we would have only had 6 people on for the night which would have worked out at over 40 people per person! Before the meal we got our usual briefing and a lot of emphasis was placed on team work because we were sti...

Adams RantsThe Restaurant (4.11.2005, 13:58 UTC)
This week I decided to get some extra hours in the hotel by working in the restaurant as well as banquetting. That saw me be put on a roster working every day of the week! The first day in the restaurant was for breakfast and I was in charge of room service for the morning which basically involved preparing trays of breakfast and then bringing them up to the rooms. The only problem with that was there were 8 room services for the morning, all of which were to be brought up between 9:30 and 1...

Adams RantsRemember That? - The Childrens Channel (30.10.2005, 19:33 UTC)
For many of today’s teenagers, TCC will have played a very significant part in your upbringing. I for one can remember spending hours on end glued in front of our main 14″ television watching shows such as Earthworm Jim, Sonic The Hedgehog and Dennis The Menace among many others. The channel itself was set up in 1984 as a cable tv channel and was called “The Childrens Channel”. In 1989 it expanded to the ASTRA Satellite. In the early ninties, presumably to keep with d...

Adams RantsBig Pa’s Home Brew! (29.10.2005, 17:03 UTC)
Big Pa, a friend of mine has been hard at work over the past few weeks in an attempt to create a brew like no other! (see pic below) Big Pa testing to find the most harmful vodka available After many weeks of experiments and only a few lab explosions, Patrick was able to produce a product that promised to put hairs on my chest! A unique blend of vodka, brandy, cognac, 2 types of beer, lucozade and some liquid found under the sink is what makes up “Big Pa’s Home Brew!”....

Adams RantsRemember That? - Clarrisa (TV Show) (25.10.2005, 20:52 UTC)
At De’s request, I did some research into Clarrisa which I remember as being Mellisa Joan Harts jumping pad into stardom. The show started in 1991 and only continued until 1994 but has been regularly repeated on Nickelodeon since then and I think I remember watching it on BBC’s Saturday morning Children’s show back in the mid ninties, Live And Kicking - or L&K as it was cool to say! Clarrisa Explains it all didn’t really have a plot. Instead, as (rather unexcitin...

Adams RantsRemember That? - Alex Mack (TV Show) (25.10.2005, 18:11 UTC)
For some strange reason, this TV Show came into my head this afternoon in school and I thought it would be pretty fun to set-up a new feature on the site entitled “Remember That?” where I research old forgotten things such as TV shows, cereals… anything really that I vaguely remember from my childhood and I’m also open to suggestions! If you want me to research something because you’re too lazy then just ask me either by making a comment somewhere or post in the sh...

Adams RantsLiam Lawlor: An Update (25.10.2005, 17:46 UTC)
Unfortunately it now seems to be pretty conclusive that the woman Liam Lawlor was with was NOT a prostitute! It was in fact Julia Kushnir, a Ukrainian interpreter who had flown with Lawlor from Prague. She worked as an assistant in a legal firm. I’m not saying it’s unfortunate that it wasn’t a prostitute because I’m hungry for scandal, I’m saying it because it’s very unfortunate for his family to have to read this the following day! It’s obvious that...

Adams RantsLiam Lawlor Dies (23.10.2005, 14:05 UTC)
To many international visitors of my blog, that name won’t mean much, if anything! However, Liam Lawlor holds a special place in the minds of Irish people for he was possibly the most documented corrupt policitian to ever serve the Irish people. Time and time again, Liam partook in blackmail, bribery, money launderying and tax evasion. Wherever Liam was, you could be sure a brown envelope wasn’t far away! Liam Lawlor died when the car in which he was travelling in struck a lampos...

Adams RantsThe De La Salle No Uniform day (22.10.2005, 12:29 UTC)
Last Friday I observed that our “rival” school De La Salle, were having a no uniform day. On my way to work at about twenty-to-two I was in the perfect position to see all the cliques in operation! Those wearing shiny tracksuits stuck closely by eachother as did those who wore black tshirts with some incredibly bad nu-metal band emblazoned across the front and back of it and then there were those who just didn’t give a fuck. Y’know the ones, the people who havent wash...

Adams RantsFinally getting my tax back! (18.10.2005, 18:12 UTC)
After a long 4 months of being taxed an unbelievable 42% on my earnings, I have finally applied for my tax free cert which will entitle me to tax credits and all my wages which have been deducted as tax up to this point which I believe is somewhere a long the lines of €300 which will be nice to have coming up to Christmas! Some of you might be wondering why I haven’t really been updating the site in a while, the answer to this is the fact that I’m working on a new site behi...

Adams RantsOpinions I never realised I had! (12.10.2005, 19:43 UTC)
Today in the last class of the day our substitute teacher for English decided to get the class involved in a light hearted debate loosely based around the subject of whether or not the current coalition government should change come the next election! One of the first area’s touched on was the state of the infrastructure in Ireland and soon (almost instantly) that led onto young drivers today. The question “Do you think Under 18’s should be allowed near cars?” was ask...

Adams RantsReview: Memento (10.10.2005, 20:54 UTC)
I just finishing watching this absolute ground-breaking film. I can now see why it was voted in the top 200 movies of all time on IMDB! The plot is truely breathtaking and so unique for a Hollywood movie. It’s the sort of film that would make you stay in a cinema even after the lights come back on just so you can talk to everyone else about it. Unfortunately for me, there was noone beside me when I finished watching this so I just came on here instead! I’m not going to spoil t...

Adams RantsThis Cruel World (5.10.2005, 18:34 UTC)
Today I went to my nannies house after school. Nothing surprising or shocking about that as I’ve been doing it one a week for the last 5 years. However today I walked in to the kitchen and saw just how cruel this world is! My grandad was there sitting at the kitchen table, yet again, nothing shocking about that, but what struck me was that he was there inhaling on a nebuliser (sp?), helplessly. He gave me an incredibly emotional look when I walked in. It was a look of regret, the look tha...

Adams RantsWeekly Roundup (1.10.2005, 23:38 UTC)
This week I wasn’t really doing much searching for links and stuff, but as always a fair share of links came to me in emails and spotted on forums that I regularly read! The first site of interest is a piracy calculator. It’s aim is to calculate how much money all your pirated Movies, Games, TV Series and Music is worth. The value of my “collection” was $12893.09. Thats a massive amount of money and I know for a fact that I don’t have that kind of money therefor...

Adams RantsBoy Gets Bored (1.10.2005, 23:00 UTC)
Why do they let this shit into the cinema? Today I went to see “Boy Eats Girl” in the cinema and I can safely say that it was the worst film I’ve ever seen! There wasn’t even one iota of satisfaction to be had from the film! The film is basically set in some posh Irish village where a boy commits suicide but thankfully his voodoo loving mother is on hand to bring him back to life! BUT OH NOES!!! The ritual went wrong and now the boy feel’s nothing and crav...

Adams RantsBabes Gallery - 30th Sept (30.9.2005, 12:39 UTC)
Today see’s the last appearance of the babes this month! After an initial disasterous start which saw me spending more time looking for babes then coming up with content, the babes I think are now fitting in well with the site i.e after reading one of my nigh on incoherant posts you can relax to the sight of that fine piece of meat that they call women! I’m sure you’ll all agree that it’s the best collection yet! Technorati T...

Adams RantsParting With Your Money (29.9.2005, 19:34 UTC)
My sole motive in setting up AdamsRants was to rant about anything that I felt strongly about to anyone who would dare to pay attention. In the many months that this site has existed, it has only seen at most 2 rants. This was due to a lack of things that I had strong opinions about that. Today however see’s me gather the energy to lash out at penny savers, the people who despite being well into their adult lifes, still have their Communion money. The people who measure the exact amoun...

Adams RantsNow what will they spray the walls with? (27.9.2005, 12:17 UTC)
“OH NO BAI” “WHAT THE FOOK?” “NOW WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BLEEDIN’ SPRAY” “I BOUGH ALL THIS BLEEDIN SPRAY PAIN FOR WHA?” Those are just some examples of what was being said in and around the skanger circles yesterday as the decommissioning process had reached a close marking the end of the IRA’s operations. This is obviously a landmark occassion and one that will undoubtedly be in history books worldwide in years to come!...

Adams RantsBabes Gallery - 26th September (26.9.2005, 18:38 UTC)
It’s been a while since I last graced my blog with some beautiful females. The reason for that is that I felt that I was nearly replacing the content on my blog with that of the babes and wasn’t producing any worthwhile content on the site! Babes will now only be a secondary priority on the site, with the main focus going towards my rants, reviews and opinion! Adams RantsWeekly Roundup (25.9.2005, 17:08 UTC)
Unfortunately I couldn’t get around to writting this on Friday as I usually would as I was in Tramore and the PC there doesn’t have my bookmarks from last week! This week was a busy week for me finding stuff on the net thanks to links in MSN, IRC and forums. Anyway, lets get on with it! The first thing of interest this week is something that will make you laugh your ass off on numerous occassions. It’s the famous Bunny Suicide collection which is now online for your vi...

Adams RantsA Dream within a dream? (24.9.2005, 14:18 UTC)
This is something that has been puzzling me for a while. It isn’t as simple as the subject header either and it’s going to be extremely hard to explain. But I’ll attempt to give it a go! Lately, I’ve been trying to analyse my dreams and I have found that they generally contain “real life” situations that DON’T seem to be based on real life experiences. For example, last night I had a dream that I was going up to Dublin with everyone is work. There ha...

Adams RantsOvertired and overworked! (23.9.2005, 18:26 UTC)
I just realised today that out of everyone in my class that has a part time job - I probably have what most people would consider to be the worst job possible. They wouldn’t really be blamed for it though, because the reasoning is sound! Lets compare some random guy’s job to my own: Q:How much do you get paid per hour? HIM: €7.60 ME:€5.36 - 1 cent above minimum wage Q:What hours do you work? HIM: Regular hours, 3 hours after school 3 days a week. But not after ...
