Picked this up on the newswire this morning. Hmmm, I heard the lifeboat flare go off during the evening, but it was much later than 3.30pm. Now what I want to know is, who are the 2 men living on Ireland’s Eye for the month of December! I heard nothing about this before! Worth a visit out to them! Howth Lifeboats website is here. IOL: Five sailors rescued by Howth lifeboat The crew of Howth ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) rescued five men who had become stranded on Ireland’s Eye this aft...

Geared Up Blogchannel4.com - Space Cadets (7.12.2005, 22:06 UTC)
Did you catch channel4.com - Space Cadets tonight? Wow.. what a great idea! Possibly the best reality TV I’ve seen yet. Basically, they’ve fooled 12 people into thinking they’re going into space for 5 weeks to be filmed as the first space tourists orbiting the earth. At the end of which, instead of landing, they are just going to open the walls of the simulator, revealing the fact that they’re actually in a field in the English Countryside and have never moved. Absol...

Geared Up BlogReinhold Messner finds brothers remains (4.12.2005, 11:53 UTC)
I don’t know how I missed this one, oops. Should have covered it in September. It’s great to hear though, as I know Reinhold Messner had spent his life searching for his brothers remains after they got seperated on a climb, and Reinhold got the blame for causing the death of his brother to gain the summit in his own name. Reinhold has now proved his critics wrong. (The cartoon above depicts the fact that Messner has lost most of his toes due to frostbite over the years!) The Worl...
